Iran accuses UAE of blocking Brics consensus on West Asia conflict

Tehran:  Iran has officially accused the United Arab Emirates of obstructing a unified BRICS consensus regarding the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

During a recent summit, Tehran alleged that the UAE’s stance prevented the bloc from adopting a stronger, collective position on regional hostilities.

This diplomatic friction highlights growing internal divisions within the expanded BRICS alliance as member states struggle to align their foreign policies concerning Middle Eastern security.

The lead Iranian envoy claimed that while other members sought a cohesive statement to address the humanitarian crisis and regional stability, the UAE’s intervention effectively stalled the resolution.

The accusation underscores the complex dynamics between the two Persian Gulf neighbors, who are both new members of the bloc. As BRICS aims to increase its global influence, these public disagreements suggest that achieving a unified geopolitical front remains a significant challenge for the organisation.
