Germany Stands by US Ties Despite Trump Rift Over Iran

Berlin: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he is still willing to work with Donald Trump despite rising tensions between the two countries over the Iran war.
Speaking in an interview, Merz downplayed the disagreement and stressed that cooperation with the United States remains important. He said he is not giving up on the transatlantic relationship or on working with Trump.
The tension comes after the US announced plans to withdraw around 5,000 troops from Germany, raising concerns among European allies.
The dispute is also linked to the US use of Tomahawk missile strikes in the Iran conflict, which drew criticism from Germany over Washington’s approach.
Despite this, Germany has tried to keep the situation calm, saying such disagreements should not damage long-standing cooperation within NATO.
