Iran president says US naval blockade 'doomed to fail'

Tehran:Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has publicly dismissed the effectiveness of the U.S.-led maritime blockade, labeling it a strategy ‘doomed to fail’. In a defiant statement, Pezeshkian asserted that Iran’s regional alliances and alternative trade routes would neutralize Washington’s attempt to choke its economy.
However, top U.S. military officials are painting a different picture, emphasizing that the ‘Maritime Freedom Construct’ is already tightening its grip on the Strait of Hormuz.
A high-ranking CENTCOM admiral countered the President’s claims, arguing that the coalition’s real-time domain awareness and unified resolve are imposing ‘meaningful costs’ on Iranian obstruction.
While Iran has proposed easing its hold on the strait in exchange for lifting the blockade, the U.S. remains committed to its pressure campaign, citing the need to restore global navigation and protect the 20% of the world's oil that passes through the waterway.
