Saudi Arabia Reinforces ‘No Hajj Without Permit’ Policy Ahead of Pilgrimage
Saudi Arabia has announced enhanced measures ahead of the upcoming Hajj season, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring a safe, well-organised, and spiritually fulfilling experience for pilgrims.
Saudi authorities confirmed that only individuals holding an official Hajj permit will be allowed to enter Makkah and the holy sites during the pilgrimage period, which runs from the beginning of Dhu Al Qi’dah until the 14th of Dhu Al Hijjah. The updated guidelines clarify that visit visas of all types do not grant access to perform Hajj.
These measures are part of a broader operational plan designed to improve crowd management and enhance safety during one of the world’s largest annual gatherings. Authorities highlighted that regulating access helps ensure smoother movement, better services, and a more comfortable environment for authorised pilgrims.
Officials also confirmed the conclusion of the Umrah season, with April 18 marking the final departure date for Umrah visitors. In addition, the issuance of Umrah permits through the Nusuk platform has been temporarily suspended for all categories until the end of the Hajj period, further streamlining access exclusively for registered pilgrims.
The initiative is being implemented under the awareness campaign “No Hajj without a permit,” encouraging full compliance with regulations. Authorities emphasised that adhering to official procedures plays a vital role in maintaining safety standards, improving organisation, and ensuring a seamless pilgrimage experience.
Saudi authorities have urged the public and service providers to cooperate fully with the guidelines, noting that these steps reflect the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to deliver a secure, efficient, and spiritually enriching Hajj for all participants.
