ABU DHABI: The UAE has announced a Dh6 billion ($1.63 billion) motorway project to cut traffic congestion between Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The 85-kilometer highway will bypass major bottlenecks on the E11 and E311, potentially reducing peak-hour travel times by 40%.
The new route will connect Sharjah, Ajman, and Ras Al Khaimah directly to Dubai's outskirts. Construction is set to begin in late 2026 and will feature ‘Smart Traffic Management’ with AI sensors and dedicated lanes for autonomous heavy vehicles.
Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazrouei stated the project is vital for the UAE’s growth as a logistics hub. Beyond easing the commute for thousands, the motorway is expected to boost real estate appeal in the Northern Emirates by improving accessibility for the Dubai-based workforce.
