Tehran: Tehran: Israel said it carried out a pre-emptive military operation against Iran early on Saturday, stating the strikes were intended to neutralise threats to Israel’s security. Israeli authorities also confirmed the immediate closure of the country’s airspace and the activation of emergency measures nationwide.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced that a special and continuing state of emergency had been imposed across the country, warning that Israel is preparing for possible retaliatory missile and drone attacks.
In Iran, state-linked outlets reported several explosions in Tehran, including blasts in the central Republic district. The Fars News Agency said multiple missiles were believed to have struck parts of the capital.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces said sirens were activated across Israel in the past few minutes and emergency alerts were sent directly to mobile phones, instructing the public to remain close to protected spaces. The military said the alert was issued as a precaution, amid the possibility of missiles being launched toward Israel.
The IDF also announced that, following a situational assessment, new Home Front Command guidelines came into effect from 08:00 on Saturday. All regions have been shifted from “full activity” to “essential activity” only.
Under the updated instructions, educational activities, public gatherings and most workplaces are prohibited, except in essential sectors. The military said the public must follow official Home Front Command guidance, with full instructions published through the National Emergency Portal and the Home Front Command mobile application.
