Bill Gates Calls Epstein Link a “Huge Mistake”
Bill Gates has admitted that spending time with Jeffrey Epstein was a “huge mistake,” according to a recording reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.
Speaking during a town hall meeting with staff at the Gates Foundation, Gates expressed regret over his past association with Epstein and apologized to employees for the impact it had on the foundation’s work.
“It was a huge mistake to spend time with Epstein,” Gates said, adding that it was also wrong to involve foundation executives in meetings with him. He said he was sorry to those who were affected by his actions.
Gates’ name appears in documents recently released by the United States Department of Justice. The files include references to relationships, financial dealings and communications involving Epstein, who was a convicted sex offender.
In one draft email included in the documents, Epstein made allegations about Gates’ personal life, claiming involvement in extramarital affairs. During the town hall, Gates, 70, acknowledged having two affairs but denied any involvement in Epstein’s criminal activities.
Gates stressed that his past association with Epstein was an error in judgment and said he regrets the negative attention it brought to his philanthropic efforts.
