A British couple detained in Iran since January 2025 have been sentenced to 10 years in prison on espionage charges, according to their family.
Lindsay and Craig Foreman were arrested while travelling through Iran as part of an around-the-world motorcycle journey. Iranian authorities accused them of spying — allegations the couple have strongly denied.
In a statement released on Thursday, their son Joe Bennett said his parents were convicted after a trial that lasted only three hours. He claimed they were not permitted to present any defence during the proceedings.
“My parents have now been sentenced to 10 years following a trial that lasted just three hours and in which they were not allowed to present any defence,” Bennett said, expressing deep concern over their treatment.
The family has criticised the legal process and called for urgent international attention to the case.
