Khyber Pakhtunkhwa : A series of violent incidents in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has resulted in significant loss of life and injuries, as bomb explosions and armed confrontations rocked the region on Monday. Officials say both security personnel and civilians were among the victims as tensions rise along Pakistan’s rugged borderlands.

In Bajaur District, a suicide attacker driving an explosives-laden vehicle struck a military checkpoint. The blast caused part of the compound to collapse, killing at least 11 soldiers and a young girl, while injuring several others and damaging nearby homes. Security forces reported eliminating a number of the attackers.

Earlier in Bannu District, a bomb believed to have been placed on a motorcycle detonated outside a police station, killing at least two people, including a child, and wounding more than a dozen. Emergency teams transported the injured to local hospitals for treatment.

The attacks come amid a broader surge of militant activity in the northwest, where insurgent groups are increasingly clashing with state forces. The Tehrik‑e‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been blamed for many of the assaults, although no immediate claim of responsibility was confirmed for Monday’s incidents.

Rescue and security operations were underway in affected areas as authorities tightened patrols to prevent further violence. Many families in affected communities have expressed fear and grief as the wave of attacks continues to disrupt daily life.

Pakistan’s government has condemned the violence, pledging to intensify efforts to root out militants and safeguard civilians in the troubled region. The latest attacks have also renewed calls for stronger regional cooperation to stem cross-border insurgency.
