UAE Launches Satellite to Boost Global Impact

In a major step reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global hub for satellite technology, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, or ADFD, has partnered with Orbitworks, a leading Emirati space technology company, to launch a dedicated satellite for the Fund.

This satellite will enhance the monitoring and evaluation of ADFD-funded projects worldwide, improving data accuracy, operational oversight, and evidence-based decision-making through cutting-edge technology.

The agreement was signed at the World Government Summit by His Excellency Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADFD, and Dr. Hamdullah Mohib, CEO of Orbitworks, in the presence of senior officials.

His Excellency Al Suwaidi highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership, saying it strengthens the UAE’s role as a global centre for space innovation and builds an integrated ecosystem of advanced solutions for effective project oversight.

Dr. Mohib added that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to leveraging space technology to support sustainable development, enhance project monitoring, and maximise long-term impact.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in using space technology for development finance, showcasing the UAE’s dedication to innovation, strategic partnerships, and sustainable growth with measurable results worldwide.
