Woman Shot Dead by ICE Agent in Minneapolis
Washington: A US immigration agent has fatally shot a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis, sparking protests and a political clash between city leaders and the Trump administration. Federal officials said the woman, Renee Nicole Good, tried to run over ICE agents and described the shooting as self-defence, a claim strongly rejected by Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who accused agents of reckless use of force and called for ICE to leave the city.
The shooting occurred during an ICE operation in a residential area and was captured in videos circulating online, showing agents confronting Good in her SUV before shots were fired as the vehicle moved. President Donald Trump said an officer was run over, while Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and top Democrats disputed the federal account and demanded accountability. The incident has fuelled protests in Minneapolis and beyond, as federal authorities confirmed ICE operations will continue while the FBI investigates.
