From Red Carpet to Community Cheers: Modi’s Oman Visit Begins

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Muscat on Wednesday for a two-day official visit to the Sultanate of Oman. He was received at the airport by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Oman's Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, with a formal reception ceremony that included the playing of the Indian Republican Anthem.

The Prime Minister highlighted the historical depth of the relationship, stating, "Landed in Muscat, Oman. This is a land of enduring friendship and deep historical connections with India. This visit offers an opportunity to explore new avenues of collaboration and add fresh momentum to our partnership." 

On the Official Welcome, PM Modi expressed his appreciation for the reception hosted by the Omani leadership, "Extremely grateful to HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Oman's Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, for the warm welcome at Muscat airport. We also had a great interaction, exchanging perspectives on India-Oman friendship."

The Omani Foreign Ministry confirmed the start of the visit, noting that PM Modi will meet with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. They described the arrival as a moment where the Deputy Prime Minister was "at the forefront of those welcoming the guest state... greeting them on Omani soil and wishing them a successful visit." 

Reflecting on the reception from the local Indian community, he noted:
"Grateful for the warm welcome in Oman. The affection and enthusiasm of the Indian community here truly reflect the enduring people-to-people bonds between India and Oman."
