A series of airstrikes hit eastern Lebanon on Monday, targeting positions of the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, according to state media and Israeli officials.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that seven strikes occurred in the Hermel area in the country’s east.
Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said the strikes targeted “several Hezbollah terrorist positions in the Bekaa Valley,” including sites linked to the group’s elite Radwan force.
The attack follows Lebanon’s recent announcement that its military would begin implementing a plan to disarm Hezbollah, though no specific details of the plan have been released.
