Man on Round-the-World Trip Loses Bike in UK
A 33-year-old Indian motorcyclist, Yogesh Alekari, has had his bike and most of his belongings stolen while travelling through the UK on a round-the-world adventure.
Mr. Alekari, who set off from Mumbai on May 1, had already travelled more than 15,000 miles (24,140 km) and visited over 17 countries across Asia and Europe. His journey included trips through Iran, Nepal, China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and several European nations, including Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and France.
The theft occurred around 11:00 BST on Thursday at Wollaton Park in Nottingham. Mr. Alekari had parked his KTM 390 Adventure motorcycle at the park before stepping out for breakfast. “I locked the bike and thought it was a safe place, especially with children playing nearby. But within an hour, I came back and everything was gone,” he said.
Video footage from a park visitor showed the motorcycle being ridden away, accompanied by two mopeds.
The stolen items, valued at over £15,000, included Mr. Alekari’s MacBook, spare phone, two cameras, cash, clothing, his tent, and even his passport.
A content creator with more than 180,000 Instagram followers and almost 16,000 on Facebook, Mr. Alekari described the incident as “painful” and said it had left him with a “broken heart.” He had originally planned to continue his journey through Africa but is now stranded and deciding on his next steps.
“I was in Nottingham for a biker event and was about to head to Oxford,” he said.
