Two people were killed overnight in Russian attacks on Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, local officials said Friday.
Sergiy Lysak, head of the regional military administration, confirmed the deaths of a man and a woman in a drone strike on the Synelnyky district. A 50-year-old woman was also injured.
In a separate strike on the city of Dnipro, two people were wounded, including a 46-year-old man who remains in serious condition.
Dnipropetrovsk, located in central Ukraine, had been spared from heavy fighting since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022. However, Kyiv acknowledged earlier this week that Russian forces had entered the region, confirming Moscow’s recent claims of advances.
The region is not among the five Ukrainian territories — Donetsk, Kherson, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Crimea — that Moscow says it has annexed. Still, Russia claims to have seized several settlements in Dnipropetrovsk since July.
