US President Donald Trump has said that trade talks with India will not move forward until the two countries resolve their ongoing tariff dispute.

Speaking to reporters, President Trump was asked if he expected trade negotiations to progress following the recent announcement of 50% tariffs on Indian goods. His answer was clear: “No, not until we get it resolved.”

The comment comes just after he signed an executive order adding an extra 25% tariff on Indian imports, doubling the rate to 50%. The new measure, which takes effect on August 27, will apply to almost all Indian products entering US ports.

However, some items already on their way to the US, or covered by special exemptions, will not be affected.
