An IndiGo flight heading to Hyderabad had to return to Tirupati mid-air on Sunday evening due to a technical issue, according to airline officials.
Flight 6E 6591, which took off from Renigunta Airport at 7:42 p.m., spent nearly 40 minutes circling in the sky after the pilot detected a technical problem. Prioritizing safety, the pilot decided to turn the aircraft around. The Airbus A321neo safely landed back in Tirupati at 8:34 p.m.
The flight was originally scheduled to land at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad by 8:30 p.m., having been slated for departure at 7:20 p.m.
However, following its return, the airline announced the cancellation of the flight. This left passengers stuck in Tirupati overnight, causing frustration and heated discussions with airline staff. IndiGo informed travelers they would either be accommodated on flights the following morning or offered a full refund.
No injuries were reported, and all passengers were safe.
