Top police officials and security experts from around the world are set to gather in Dubai next week for the 2025 edition of the World Police Summit, offering a timely opportunity for Bahrain to strengthen regional cooperation on policing, cybercrime, and artificial intelligence.
The summit, opening on Tuesday at the Dubai World Trade Centre, is expected to host over 17,000 participants and 170 exhibitors, making it one of the largest events of its kind in the region. Organised under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the three-day gathering will feature more than 300 speakers from global law enforcement bodies including INTERPOL, Europol, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
GCC Collaboration
Bahrain, which has increasingly focused on digital policing and cross-border cooperation, is expected to benefit from the summit’s expanded agenda covering smart city security, rapid response technologies, and the role of AI in predictive policing.
The event features 12 conference tracks, up from seven last year, and introduces new zones including an Academic Zone, a Startup Zone, and a Demonstration Hub to showcase real-world security scenarios. Topics such as information security, disaster management, and modern leadership in law enforcement will also be addressed.
Dubai’s Security Push
Brigadier Dr. Saleh Rashed AlHamrani of Dubai Police described the summit as a global platform that enhances international policing standards and reflects the UAE’s ambition to serve as a hub for security innovation. He noted a 25 percent increase in participation compared to last year. The World Police Summit Awards, which have seen a 200 percent rise in nominations, will also be presented during the event to honour individuals and institutions who advance community safety and integrity.
Regional Stakes
With the Gulf region facing evolving security threats, ranging from cyberattacks to organised crime, Bahrain’s engagement at the summit aligns with its efforts to build partnerships and adopt next-generation technologies across its policing institutions.
The event also aims to promote gender diversity and youth inclusion in law enforcement, offering training and knowledge exchange platforms for the next generation of police professionals.
