With an objective to contribute to the society as responsible global citizens, the students at New Millennium School-Bahrain undertook a charity drive by donating an amount to Bahrain Cancer Society.
The fund was raised through the ‘Commerce Kitchen’ activity organized by the students and teachers of Commerce Department as part of its experiential learning initiative, wherein students planned, prepared, priced, marketed and sold food items on campus. The initiative not only enhanced students’ entrepreneurial and managerial skills but also instilled a sense of social responsibility by dedicating the proceeds to a meaningful cause.
The collected amount was formally handed over to the representatives of the Bahrain Cancer Society in a brief ceremony held at the school campus. The programme also featured an awareness talk on early detection, self-examination and the importance of community support for patients and survivors.
Applauding the efforts of the staff and the students, Principal, Dr Arun Kuumar Sharma said that, out of social responsibility and a belief in the need to contribute positively in all issues of concern to the community, whether health, developmental, voluntary or educational, the school is always keen to create programs and activities that serve these issues.
Chairman, Dr. Ravi Pillai and Managing Director, Mrs. Geetha Pillai appreciated the students for their noble gesture and thanked both the parents and the teachers for their efforts in inculcating the sense of social responsibility among students.
