World's Longest Plane Journey Completes 29-Hour Flight from Shanghai to Buenos Aires

Shanghai: A China Eastern Airlines flight has set a new record for the world's longest passenger flight using a single aircraft with one stop, covering a distance of 12,400 miles in 29 hours. The flight departed from Shanghai and landed at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires, with a stopover in Auckland, New Zealand, for fuel and crew rotation.

The historic flight marked a significant milestone in aviation, surpassing Singapore Airlines' 19-hour service between New York and Singapore, which previously held the record. The twice-weekly, year-round service uses a Boeing 777-300ER with capacity for 316 passengers and is expected to boost travel between Asia-Pacific and South America.

The flight's completion was celebrated in Shanghai and Buenos Aires, with a welcoming ceremony held in Auckland during the stopover. China Eastern Airlines stated that the new route fills a gap in direct flights between Shanghai and major South American cities, opening a 'southbound corridor' connecting opposite ends of the Pacific.

Meanwhile, Australia's Qantas is planning to snatch the title of the longest non-stop direct flight in 2027, with a route connecting Sydney and New York.
