Jennifer Lopez’s divorce from Ben Affleck was “the best thing that ever happened” to her.

The 56-yearold singer/ actress married the movie star in 2022, but they split in 2024 after less than two years of mar-riage and Jennifer is adamant the break- up was good for her because it helped her “ grow ” and become “more self aware”.

During an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning, Jennifer opened up about working with her then-husband on her film Kiss of the Spider Woman - made by Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company Artists Equity - while their relationship was falling apart at home.

She said : “The movie wouldn’t have been made if it wasn’t for him and Artists Equity. I will always give him that credit.

“It was hard not to think about stuff but it was, like, the best and the worst of times. Every moment on set … I was so happy.

And then… back home, it was not great.”

However, Jennifer is determined to see the positive side of the experience.

She added: “But you get through it and, you know, honestly, I have to say, it was the best thing that ever happened to me because it changed me.

“It helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow … become more self aware. I’m a different person now than I was last year.”

The pair separated in April 2024 and their divorce was finalised in January, and Jennifer went on to admit she had a wonderful summer and is able to find the “joy” in life.

She said: “This summer was probably the best summer I’ve ever had. I’m able to enjoy things more. I realized that joy is in living … and really embracing life and everything that it brings to you.

“The hard times are the lessons and you have to understand that. I feel like, if that [the divorce] hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t understand that.”

Affleck previously opened up about the split in an interview with GQ magazine earlier this year, insisting there was “no scandal” behind the breakdown of the marriage.
