China’s Chery Automobile has filed a design patent for its Tiggo 8 SUV in India, signalling a possible entry into the competitive midsize-tolarge SUV segment.

The 4.7-metre-long SUV with a 2.7-metre wheelbase sports a bold design, highlighted by an octagonal front grille and split headlamps.

Inside, the Tiggo 8 is equipped with premium features, including a 15.6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and a 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. It also offers a 12-speaker audio system, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof.

On the safety front, the SUV comes with ADAS offering 19 active safety functions, nine airbags, and a built-in dashcam.

Powering the Tiggo 8 is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates 241 BHP and 390 Nm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and a ZF-sourced four-wheeldrive system.
