Son of Zous lifts Crown Industries Cup at REHC

Son of Zous yesterday lifted the Crown Industries Cup in the day’s final race at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir. The four-year-old colt claimed the victory in the eighth race of the day for owners M and E Racing and trainer AM Smith, while ridden by jockey Edinson Rodriguez.

Muasher was the runner-up for MJ Racing, Taleb Ali and Husain Makki; while Tharb finished in third for Abdulla Sami Nass, Fawzi Nass and Neil Callan.

In attendance at yesterday’s events were Supreme Council for Environment vice-president, REHC High Committee deputy chairman and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports member His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid bin Isa Al Khalifa, as well as Southern Governor His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

A second Crown Industries Cup yesterday was won by Royal Scimitar in race three.

The Al Mohamediya Racing-owned, Fawzi Nass-trained gelding was steered to victory by Neil Callan. Wowzers made it a one-two for Al Mohamediya and Nass, ridden by Jason Watson; while Burglar took third place for Al Adiyat Racing, AM Smith and Gerald Mosse.

Meanwhile the two South Governorate Cups yesterday were won by Jbarah in race four and Bussento in race two.

Triumph Jbarah triumphed for Al Afoo Racing, Mohammed Hasan and Soufiane Saadi.

Sakhr came second for HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, Haider Ebrahim and Ahmed Maki; while Mughayer was third for Mohammed Yousif Sarhan, Yousif Sarhan and Abdulla Faisal. Bussento won for the Al Mohamediya-Nass-Watson connections, with Yaalail coming second for owner and trainer Jaffar Marzooq, with Andrew Elliott in the saddle.

Al Mukhtar Star came third for Al Afoo Racing, Jaber Ramadhan and Soufiane Saadi.

Also yesterday three Al Sharif Group Cups were up for grabs. They were won in race seven by Nomadic Empire for Al Mohamediya, Osama Hashim and Hussain Asghar; in race six by Haddar for the Al Mohamediya-Nass-Callan triumvirate; and in race five by Chronograph for Al Adiyat Racing, AM Smith and Gerald Mosse.

The Al Wasmiya Cup in the first race of the day was lifted by Al Krush 1887 competing for owners Al Riffa, trainer Yousif Alboainain and jockey Abdulla Faisal.
