Quarter-final pool action gets underway today in the 2023 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship.

As the outdoor temperature in the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to rise, so does the intensity amongst the tournament’s elite eight, who are all looking to continue their quests for the continental crown.

One of the highlights of today’s exciting schedule of matches is the Pool E encounter between Japan’s Suntory Sunbirds and Korea’s Korean Air Jumbos Pro-Volleyball Club.

The Sunbirds are the runners-up from last year’s competition and have cruised through the preliminary round, which they finished with an undefeated record in three games.

The Koreans have also looked impressive so far despite losing their final assignment of the group stage.

This titanic match-up is scheduled for an 11.30am start in Court 2 at Isa Sports City in Riffa.

At the same time in Court 1, Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi of Indonesia face off with Bayankhongor Crownd Geo VC of Mongolia.

This is another mouth-watering Pool E clash between two sides that secured their top-eight berths only on the last day of preliminary play. In quarter-final Pool F, both contests are scheduled to begin no earlier than 4.30pm.

South Gas Sports Club of Iraq will be hoping to hand Police Sports Team from Qatar their first loss of the tournament in Court 1, while Iranian powerhouses Shahdab Yazd will be looking to flex their muscles against Kuwait Sporting Club of Kuwait in Court 2.

Today will also see action in the 16-team competition’s placement pools.

This will be headlined by Bahrain’s Al Ahli Club taking on Khaypil Sports Club of Yemen in a Pool G encounter at 7pm.

Australia’s Canberra Heat face off with Thailand’s Diamond Food Fine Chef-Air Force in the other group fixture at 2pm.

In Pool H, Taichung Bank of Chinese Taipei square off with Aspiring Volleyball Team from Hong Kong, China, while Kam Air from Afghanistan and Atyrau VC of Kazakhstan lock horns.

In all four quarter-final and placement pools, head-to-head results from the preliminaries are carried over.

These games are to be held over two days today and tomorrow.

The semi-finals will then take place Saturday along with other classification contests before the medal matches and final placement games will be held on Sunday.

The champions of this year’s tournament will qualify for the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship.
