Royal Scimitar wins ASRY Cup

Royal Scimitar won yesterday the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) Cup on the final race day of the 2022/2023 season at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.

Competing for Al Mohamediya Racing and Fawzi Nass, Neil Callan saddled the five-yearold gelding to first place in the eight-furlong event in one minute 35.452 seconds to claim the lion’s share of the BD5,000 total prize.

Royal Scimitar was followed by runner-up Follow Suit competing for Al Remah Stable, Abdulla Kuwaiti and Husain Makki; while Modmin clinched third place for HBR Racing, Khalid Al Khatri and Ebrahim Nader.

Also yesterday, Kaasib won the HH Shaikh Sultan bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup for Al Mohamediya Racing, Ali Abdulmajeed and Neil Callan; Mugheerah claimed the HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup for Al Nayefaat, Abdulla Kuwaiti and Salem Alajmi; Mudallal clinched the HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup for Al Mohamediya, Fawzi Nass and Callan; and Al Saqlawy 1807 lifted the HH Shaikh Sultan bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup for Al Riffa, Yousif Alboainain and Abdulla Faisal.

Elsewhere yesterday, Speed Chance and Illuminated won the Al Ayam Publishing Est BSC Cups.

Speed Chance won for Husain Habib Aljaboori, Osama Hashim and Abdulla Faisal; while Illuminated triumphed for MKAR Racing, Haider Ebrahim and Ebrahim Nader.
