Comfortable win for Ali Dawani in quarters
Top seed Ali Dawani had a comfortable 6-0, 6-0 win against Avneet Singh in the quarter finals of the Boys 16 years and under singles yesterday on the sixth day of play in the 21st Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) Juniors Open Tennis Championship at the Bahrain Tennis Club premises in Juffair.
Second seed Yousef Dhaif was also an easy 6-0, 6-0 winner over Avneet Singh, while Rahul Jaideep upset third seed Hassan Al Qattan 6-1, 6-3 and Yousef Ashraf came back from a set down to knock out fourth seed Hamad Abdul A’al 6-7(5), 6-4, 10-7.
In the Boys 12 years and under singles, top seed Ken Belt beat Kazuma Miyawaki 6-1, 6-2, second seed Sparsh Parmar was a 6-2, 6-3 winner against Anshuman Sonawane, third seed Mohammed Al Shehabi advanced 6-3, 6-3 against Erwin Godina and Sai Raghavan Balakrishnan was a 6-1, 7-6(9) winner against Mohammed Al Khan.
The Girls 18 years and under singles saw top seed Areej Fareh easily win 6-0, 6-1 against Liya Savasman, while second seed Aleina Alex brushed aside Ranem Ghattas 6-0, 6-0 and fourth seed Nazly Darwish won 6-1, 6-1, with third seed Manni Zhang receiving a walkover win from Mirna Ashour.
Patron of the event is Abdul Karim Bucheery BBK’s Chief Executive Officer and features more than 150 players registered for the championship with seven categories.
Matches are played from 4pm on a daily basis with the final day on Wednesday. Todays schedule (Semi-finals Day from 4pm)
