Bahrain’s 3×3 Teams Target Asia Cup Success in Singapore
Bahrain’s men’s and women’s national 3×3 basketball teams are preparing to compete in the FIBA Asia Cup in Singapore from April 1 to 5. The tournament not only crowns the best teams in Asia but also serves as a qualifier for the 2026 FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Warsaw, Poland, giving both squads a crucial opportunity to advance to the global stage.
The men’s team, featuring Nasser Al Mousawi, Isa Jassim, Mohammed Ghazwan, Al Wathiq Ali, and Salman Al Kaabi, enters the tournament with growing confidence. Earlier this month, Bahrain rose to 19th place overall in the FIBA 3×3 Men’s Federation Ranking, reflecting the country’s rapid progress in the sport. This ranking gives the team momentum as they aim to make a strong impression in Singapore and secure a pathway to Warsaw, where 40 of the world’s top national teams, including 20 men’s and 20 women’s, will compete from June 1 to 7 in the heart of Poland’s capital.
Meanwhile, the women’s squad, composed of Bayan Salman, Shereen Abdulrahman, Noor Najaf, and Nouf Abdullah, carries ambitions to compete at a high level and further elevate Bahrain’s presence in continental women’s basketball. Their inclusion in a competitive Group C alongside Chinese Taipei, Saudi Arabia, and Hong Kong promises challenging encounters from the start.
The men are drawn into Group D with Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, and India. Both groups are balanced and competitive, so early performances will be pivotal in shaping each team’s tournament journey. With 24 men’s teams and 22 women’s teams participating, this Asia Cup represents one of the strongest editions to date. The event highlights the rapid growth of 3×3 basketball across Asia and its recognition as an Olympic sport.
