Al Khaldiya secured the Bahrain Super Cup with a 3-0 victory over Muharraq last night at Khalifa Sports City. The match was largely contested by U21 players from the NBB Youth Football League, with only a handful of senior players featuring.
The holders were chasing a fourth consecutive Super Cup, while the Red Wolves aimed for their first triumph since 2018–19 and a fifth overall. Both teams are also closely matched in the current Nasser bin Hamad Premier League, adding extra significance to the encounter.
The first goal came in the 22nd minute when Moroccan senior Nizar El Otmani curled a stunning free kick from outside the penalty area. The ball ricocheted off the crossbar and into the net, leaving Muharraq goalkeeper Ebrahim Sanad rooted.
Play was briefly interrupted shortly after as safety sirens sounded across the Kingdom due to a regional hazard warning, resuming from the same minute once cleared.
El Otmani doubled the lead in the 78th minute, converting a penalty awarded after Muharraq’s Abdulla Jamal was adjudged to have fouled an attacker in the box, following a lengthy VAR review. The scoring was completed in the 88th minute when substitute Mubarak Fawaz was teed up by El Otmani and struck first-time into the top corner.
Al Khaldiya held firm to secure their fourth consecutive Super Cup, reinforcing their dominance in Bahraini football.
