Bahraini Powerlifter Abdullah Salmeen Sets Asian Record and Wins World Title
taff Sergeant Abdullah Abdulwahab Salmeen of the Ministry of Interior’s powerlifting team secured first place in the under-140 kg weight category at the Asian level, while also breaking the Asian record in the bench press with a lift of 240 kg. He went on to claim the Overall Champion title at the World Professional Powerlifting Championship held in Thailand.
On this occasion, Brigadier Khalid Abdulaziz Al Khayyat, President of the Public Security Sports Association, expressed his appreciation for the continuous support provided by Lieutenant General His Excellency Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, noting that such backing plays a key role in the ministry’s sports achievements.
He also highlighted the close follow-up of Lieutenant General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security, who consistently supports the ministry’s sports teams during both local and international competitions.
Brigadier Al Khayyat praised Salmeen’s outstanding accomplishment, stressing that this victory reflects the high competence and readiness of the Ministry of Interior’s athletes and their commitment to achieving results that showcase the excellence of Bahraini sports at both national and global levels.
