Bahrain’s Pedro de Jesus crowned Jiu-Jitsu world champion

Pedro Bisi de Jesus added a world title to his growing list of achievements after a dominant display at the 2025 Jiu-Jitsu World Championships in Bangkok.

The 18-year-old claimed gold in the men’s under-85kg category, beating Russia’s Shapiev Gasan 9-0 in the final. Gasan competed as a neutral athlete amid ongoing international restrictions, but De Jesus showed no mercy in a dominant performance.

It is the latest milestone in a career already full of firsts. Last month, De Jesus secured bronze at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, and earlier this year he became the first fighter from his country to win gold at the European IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Lisbon.

De Jesus’s rise reflects Bahrain’s growing influence on the global Jiu-Jitsu stage and marks him out as one of the sport’s brightest young talents.
