Uzbekistan and China shine in Taekwondo finals

The Asian Youth Games continued in Bahrain with a full schedule of martial arts, bringing together the continent’s top young athletes. Inside Exhibition World Hall 2, the Taekwondo mats became a stage for emerging talent as Asia’s best competed for medals before a lively crowd.
Semifinals Set Medal Stage
The day’s semifinals determined the final podium contenders. In the girls’ -49kg, Lee Siwoo (KOR) defeated Azzahra Queenita Keisha (INA), while Li Mixue (CHN) overcame Wang Chieh-ling (TPE). In the girls’ -55kg, Ravshanova Rushanakhon (UZB) outpaced Rania Taqatqa (JOR), and Xu Wanlin (CHN) beat Dina Babarahim (IRI). On the boys’ side, Mukhtorov Akhadjon (UZB) and Shamuratov Zhanaibek (KAZ) advanced in the -73kg division.
Gold Medal Battles
In the finals, Li Mixue (CHN) edged Lee Siwoo (KOR) to take the girls’ -49kg crown, demonstrating technical control. Meanwhile, Ravshanova Rushanakhon (UZB) dominated Xu Wanlin (CHN) in the girls’ -55kg final, and Mukhtorov Akhadjon (UZB) defeated Shamuratov Zhanaibek (KAZ) in the boys’ -73kg showdown, showing tactical skill in every exchange.
Podium Recap
Silver medals went to Lee Siwoo, Xu Wanlin, and Shamuratov Zhanaibek, while bronze medals were awarded to Azzahra Queenita Keisha, Wang Chieh-ling, Dina Babarahim, and Rania Taqatqa. The results highlight Asia’s rising generation of Taekwondo talent and hint at future global contenders.
