Bahrain’s first team started their training camp, laying the groundwork for two upcoming international friendlies during the FIFA September break against Qatar and the UAE.

Camp Begins in Riffa

Head coach Dragan Talajic welcomed the players in Riffa, though several key members were absent. Abdulla Al Subaie, Sayed Mahmood Al Mosawi, and Ahmed Dhiya remain in Doha with the U23 Olympic team, preparing for the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, which kick off on Wednesday.

The main contingent at the Bahrain Football Association pitches features the likes of Mohammed Jassim Marhoon, Amine Benaddi, Waleed Al Hayyam, Sayed Dhiya Saeed, Komail Al Aswad, and goalkeepers Ebrahim Lutfallah, Mohammed Al Gharably, Abdulkarim Al Fardan, and Yousif Habib.

Schedule for Upcoming Matches

The Bahrain team will depart for Doha today to face the Qatari national side in a closed friendly on September 3. Following that, the squad travels to Dubai on Thursday to continue preparations ahead of their 8 September match against the UAE at Zabeel Stadium, Al Wasl Club. The players are scheduled to return home on 9 September.

Building for the Future

These friendlies represent Bahrain’s first international action since exiting the third round of the AFC World Cup 2026 qualifiers in June. The team also gained match fitness last month through a series of exhibition matches against European club sides during their training camp in Maribor, Slovenia.

Looking ahead, these warmup matches will serve as preparation for the FIFA Arab Cup 2025, scheduled this December in Doha.
