All eyes will be on Isa Town tomorrow as Manama and Muharraq face off in the final of the 2024 Khalifa bin Salman Cup at 7pm at Isa Sports City Hall C. This marks a repeat of last season’s decider, which saw Manama claim the crown in dominant fashion. His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, called the Khalifa bin Salman Cup final a landmark moment for basketball in the Kingdom, citing strong fan interest and a rare level of international attention.
His Highness noted that the game will welcome H.E. Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al Thani, President of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), and H.E. Major General Ismail Al Gergawi, President of the Arab Basketball Federation, alongside elite basketball officials from around the world. Attending legends include former Chinese national team star Yao Ming—one of Asia’s most iconic players and a Houston Rockets NBA alum—and German icon Dirk Nowitzki, former Dallas Mavericks star, giving the game a distinct international flair.

“This final is not just a domestic title match,” His Highness said, “but a global platform reflecting the advanced status Bahraini basketball has reached. It embodies the fruits of years of institutional work and development by the Bahrain Basketball Association.”
He added that holding the final alongside the FIBA Congress and Hall of Fame celebrations has drawn the eyes of the international basketball community toward Bahrain and strengthened its reputation as a leading sports nation, especially in basketball.

The journey to the championship game has been marked by some memorable matches and standout performances. In the quarter-finals, Manama posted a resounding 96-82 win over Al Hala, while Muharraq outclassed Al Ahli 81-70, both securing their spots in the semi-finals.
Both teams swept their semi-final series in dominant fashion. Manama outlasted Nuwaidrat 84-75 in Game 2, while Muharraq cruised past Samaheej 85-69, showing their readiness for tomorrow's game. Manama aim for a “three-peat,” while Muharraq look to end their drought since 2017.
