A New Player Plans Ahead
The Cadillac team, gearing up for their Formula One debut next year, has at least six drivers in the frame for their 2026 line-up, with decisions set to be made strictly on merit, team principal Graeme Lowdon revealed yesterday. Speaking on a video call with reporters, Lowdon shared insights into the General Motors-backed squad’s plans after they secured final approval last week to join the grid as the sport’s 11th team, a move that’s already sparking plenty of chatter about who might take the wheel.
Merit Over Nationality
Lowdon didn’t shy away from the big question on everyone’s mind—will an American driver be behind the wheel for the US-backed outfit? “I see no reason why an American driver can’t be selected on merit,” he told journalists, keeping his cards close but making it clear that performance will trump passport. With the green light now given for their entry, Cadillac’s focus is firmly on building a competitive line-up, and the six names on their shortlist are already fueling speculation across the paddock.
