Bahrain, Hungary boost ties through virtual business forum

In pursuit of advancing mutual business ties, the Bahrain Chamber collaborated with the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency (HEPA) and the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Together, they orchestrated a joint Virtual Business Forum on Monday.

During the forum, Khalid Najibi, the Vice-Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber, applauded the burgeoning Bahrain and Hungary ties in various domains. He emphasised the significance of nurturing business partnerships and knowledge exchange, praising the event for facilitating connections and exploring business opportunities between the two nations.

Gabor Jenei, the CEO of HEPA, expressed pride in the Hungarian-Bahraini relations and the increasing bilateral trade. Jenei highlighted that Hungary’s exports to Bahrain amounted to $15 million, while Bahrain’s exports to Hungary reached $8 million.

He encouraged collaboration in promising areas and urged both business communities to leverage them for mutual benefit. Dr. János Kóka, former Hungarian Minister of Economy and Transport, and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Cellum Group and Doktor24, underscored the importance of strengthening economic ties with the Bahraini private sector.

He emphasised the need to capitalise on promising investment prospects to achieve shared strategic objectives between the two nations. Sawsan Abualhasan, a board member of the Bahrain Chamber, delivered a presentation on Bahrain’s business ecosystem, highlighting its robust infrastructure and business-friendly laws. She also focused on Bahrain’s ICT and Digital sector.

The forum saw the participation of 50 companies representing various sectors, including ICT, sustainable energy, pharmaceuticals, water management technologies, and creative industries. These companies shared their business profiles and expressed interest in forging partnerships.

On the sidelines of the forum, Dr. Parragh László, Chairman of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, met with Khalid Najibi to discuss establishing official channels connecting Bahraini and Hungarian businessmen.
