iGA Deputy CEO advocates innovation and Design Thinking at BIBF’s Forum

Dr. Zakariya AlKhajah, Deputy Chief Executive of Electronic Transformation at the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), participated in the Design Thinking Forum organized by the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) in collaboration with Eskan Bank.

The event, attended by decision-makers, thought leaders, and experts from various sectors, focused on the role of design thinking and innovation in promoting sustainable economic growth in Bahrain.

During the ‘Design Thinking in Action: Solving Problems, Inspiring Innovation’ session, Dr. AlKhajah emphasized the significance of integrating innovation to enhance government services, improve service delivery methods, and elevate the quality of life for citizens and residents.

He highlighted that innovation encompasses everything contributing to the public good, fostering transparency, and encouraging collaboration between government entities and the community.

Dr. AlKhajah described design thinking as a user-centered approach that addresses individual needs for problem-solving, creativity, and swift implementation of processes.

This structured yet flexible method aims to tackle complex social challenges while creating value for the public.

He emphasized the positive impact of design thinking on communication between government entities and the public, leading to the provision of user-friendly services and systems through platforms like the National Portal, bahrain.

Addressing challenges in implementing design thinking and embracing innovation, Dr. AlKhajah mentioned resistance to change, managing potential risks, limited resources, and a lack of required skills.

He acknowledged the vital role of government support in creating an innovation-friendly environment in Bahrain, facilitating the launch and adoption of digital initiatives.

In conclusion, Dr. Zakariya discussed trends shaping the future of innovation, emphasizing digital transformation and the integration of technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain.
