Bahrain Chamber unveils books on ‘Elite Bahraini Businessmen in India’

The Bahrain Chamber yesterday launched a book tilted “Elite Bahraini Businessmen in India: Between the End of the 19th Century to the Mid-20th Century” during a ceremony held yesterday at its headquarters.

The book was co-authored by historian and Bahrain Chamber board member Yousif Salahuddin and Dr Wesam Abbas Al Sebea.

The ceremony drew a distinguished audience, including writers, business owners, and notable dignitaries, among them Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber, Sameer Nass, Capital Governor Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman bin Rashid Al Khalifa, and Indian Ambassador to Bahrain, Vinod K. Jacob.

Chairman Nass voiced his pride in the book’s content and underscored the crucial role of documentation in preserving knowledge, ensuring its transmission across generations.

In his remarks, Salahuddin expressed pride in the rich and multifaceted relationship between Bahrain and India, encompassing social, cultural, political, and economic exchanges.

He emphasised that the book’s purpose was to chronicle this unique bond between the two friendly nations and their people.

Dr Al Sebea highlighted the book’s significance in narrating a pivotal chapter in the trade history between Bahrain and India, spanning from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century.

The event also witnessed the presence of key figures from the Bahrain Chamber, including First Vice-Chairman Khalid Najibi, Treasurer Aref Hejris, board member Batool Dadabai, and other officials.
