Something about spring makes the heart happy.

The moderate climate and bright and sunny skies contribute to a sense of vigour.

The air seems fresher too.

Spring is the season of new life and growth.

This season creates happiness, positivity, and motivation among everyone and paves the way for creative thinking.

Undoubtedly, spring is also the season that sees the harvest of some of the lushest fruits and vegetables.

In Bahrain, the spring season lasts no longer than one month; hence, we need to make the most of it. We know this is the best time to enjoy nature in all its vitality.

Spending time outside can improve your health by reducing stress, lowering blood pressure and enhancing Vitamin D levels.

A few beautiful picnic spots in Bahrain are the Andalus garden in Gudaibiya, Marina beach/ lawn, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Park in Hidd, and Khalifa Al Kubra Garden in Riffa.

Prepare a picnic basket with your favourite food and head to a beautiful green garden to enjoy nature.

Here are a few sandwich-filling options that stay fresh for a few hours outdoors.

You have heard people say, “Eat vegetables and fruits during their peak season”.

This holds accurate as the size, colour, flavour and nutritional value of fruits and vegetables are at their best.

The produce is also cheaper due to abundant harvest. Some commonly enjoyed spring fruits include strawberries, apricots, cherries, mangoes, apples, pineapples, blueberries, citrus fruits, melons, and kiwis.

A number of green vegetables such as spinach, asparagus, broccoli, green peas, French beans, cabbage and carrots are all in season during this time.

Try out the Spring Salad Niçoise and Vegetable Chow Mein recipes.

These are adaptable, so you can mix and match the vegetables accordingly.
