Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications participated in a workshop on enhancing logistics integration among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, held at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.
The Bahraini delegation included Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post; Mayas Al Mutazbillah Al Agha, Assistant Undersecretary for Ports Affairs; and Abdullah Hassan Al Qadhi, Director of Air Transport Affairs.
The GCC General Secretariat organised the workshop as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation among member states and develop a more integrated regional logistics network.
The event opened with remarks by Khalid Ali Salem Al Sunaidi, Assistant Secretary General for Economic and Development Affairs, followed by a detailed presentation outlining the logistics integration initiative's objectives and strategic priorities.
The workshop was held in line with the decision of the 29th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Transport and Communications on June 17, which followed the directives issued by GCC leaders during their 19th Consultative Meeting on April 28.
The directives aim to enhance logistics cooperation between GCC countries, accelerate progress on the GCC railway project, improve connectivity with international markets, and provide more efficient and flexible transport solutions for moving goods and products across the region.
During the workshop, representatives from GCC member states discussed the current status of regional logistics integration, reviewed international experiences and best practices, and examined strategic developments and the expected economic impact of strengthening cooperation in the sector.
The initiative reflects GCC efforts to build a connected and competitive transport ecosystem that supports trade, investment and sustainable economic growth across the Gulf region.
