Bahrain Titanium (BTI), founded by the leadership group of metals powerhouse Interlink, has commenced construction of the Middle East’s first integrated titanium production facility, marking a major milestone for Bahrain’s industrial growth.

The project, granted a Golden License in 2024, was announced at the Gateway Gulf investment forum in Manama, which gathered global investors and policymakers to explore opportunities across the Gulf region.

Located in Askar, the USD 200 million facility’s first stage will feature advanced electron beam and vacuum arc melting furnaces, producing 4,000 tons of commercially pure titanium slabs and 1,500 tons of grade 5 titanium ingots annually. These materials will serve key industries such as chemical processing, desalination, marine, and power generation.

Ali Al Mudaifa, Chief of Business Development at Bahrain EDB, said the project underscores Bahrain’s growing appeal as a manufacturing and export hub. BTI Chairman Igor Raykhelson added, “Stage 1 establishes Bahrain as a reliable producer of titanium; Stage 2 will enable contributions to aerospace and medical-grade c omponents.”

Production is set to begin in early 2026, with the second phase expanding capacity to 10,000 tons annually, positioning Bahrain as a regional titanium hub.
