The "Smile" initiative, an initiative by the Bahrain Future Society for Youth that provides psychosocial support to children with cancer and their families in the Kingdom of Bahrain, recently hosted an awareness platform at City Centre Bahrain. This event was part of the "Kids R Gold 11" campaign, which aims to raise awareness about childhood cancer. Over the course of three days, the platform attracted more than 3,000 visitors.

A team of "Smile" volunteers distributed informative materials about childhood cancer symptoms, the importance of early detection, and regular medical check-ups. They also provided guidance on handling diagnoses, treatment, and psychological and social support for children with cancer. The goal was to increase awareness about childhood cancer and encourage donations to charitable and medical institutions that address this disease. Visitors were also given the opportunity to purchase golden ribbons, symbolizing solidarity with children battling cancer.

The platform featured a display of products created and produced by talented young people, which were sold successfully amidst significant interest from attendees. These products received widespread acclaim due to the efforts and talent of the young creators. The generous support from the public led to impressive sales figures over the three days. The proceeds from these sales will be used to support children with cancer and provide them with necessary psychological and social care, making each purchase a step toward fostering a more compassionate and supportive community for those in need during challenging times.

Mr. Sabah Al-Zayani, Chairman of the Bahrain Future Society for Youth, emphasized that the awareness platform was designed to highlight the critical importance of early detection and prevention of childhood cancer, aiming for high survival rates in line with the "Kids R Gold 11" campaign, which promotes the message "Children's cancer is curable." This initiative celebrates the achievements of courageous children who have triumphed over the disease, serving as a source of inspiration and motivation to continue supporting these children and their families.

“The platform has a crucial role as a vital communication bridge between the community and the Smile initiative, offering an opportunity for people to learn about the campaign's programs and goals. We also have plans to establish similar awareness platforms in health centers and hospitals and to launch another platform soon in the Avenues to further promote childhood cancer awareness and encourage support for this important cause.”
