King support to Bahraini women praised by Shura

The Shura Council has expressed great pride in the attention and support that Bahraini women receive from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The Shura also praised the direct attention accorded to Bahraini women by the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the continuous patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women.

In a statement marking today’s Women’s International Day, celebrated this year under the theme “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”, the Council commended the outstanding initiatives launched by HRH Princess Sabeeka to enhance the role of women and empower them to become great achievers nationally and internationally.

The Shura said that the world’s celebration of women in leadership highlights the prestigious position and high levels reached by Bahraini women, as well as their national responsibilities in holding many leadership positions in line with their dedication to serving Bahrain.

The Council expressed its pride in the success stories made by Bahraini women through their presence in the front lines of the national campaign to confront the coronavirus, as they presented multiple examples of national commitment and sacrifice to ensure health, wellbeing and safety of citizens and residents.

The Shura reaffirmed its commitment to continue enacting legislation and laws that enhance the rights of women, strengthen their status and empower them towards further progress and higher status.

Prominent leadership The Council of Representatives congratulated HM the King on the progress achieved by Bahraini women and on their prominent leadership in light of the comprehensive development process.

It also congratulated HRH Prince Salman on supporting and empowering women, and on strengthening the principle of equal opportunities through an inclusive national vision, Team Bahrain, that boosts opportunities and tackles challenges.

The Council expressed deep gratitude for the support and directives of HRH Princess Sabeeka that helped elevate the status of Bahraini women internationally.

Thanks to HRH Princess Sabeeka’s efforts and initiatives, Bahraini women have become shining examples of how women support the state’s efforts in confronting the pandemic and help ensure the safety of countries, the statement added.

The Council paid tribute to all the Bahraini women who valiantly stood at the frontlines in all areas to confront the pandemic and its repercussions, weaving together success stories for Bahrain and for themselves and demonstrating their leadership aptitudes in facing challenges.
