Large tumour removed from Bahrain baby’s abdomen

A team from King Hamad University Hospital’s Paediatrics Department has succeeded in removing a big tumour from the abdomen of a five-month-old baby.
The operation was done under the supervision of Professor Martin Kurbala, a consultant pediatric surgeon.
The baby has already been examined in a hospital before it was transferred to the Pediatric Department of King Hamad Hospital. After conducting the necessary tests, the 10-centimetre tumour was found on the right side of the abdomen above the right kidney.
The tumour was removed after a three-hour procedure. The patient made a full recovery and left the hospital on the third day after the surgery.
