Members of the Joint Parliamentary Committee for the study of redistribution of support confirmed that the Shura Council announced that they are aware of the economical status, which all countries of the region, including Bahrain are going through.
They added that the committee is studying all options that will benefit citizens. The option of a "ration card" is the closest solution currently, as it's the most successful in a number of Gulf States. They also stated that it is a better method than direct financial support, which will cause traders and owners of companies to raise prices.
Head of the sub-committee for reviewing power and water subsidies, MP Adel Al Asoomi pointed out that the Committee's work needs to be extended, and that the deadline to agree on the issue of citizens' support will be determined next week.
Al Asoomi stressed on the government's overwhelming response, pointing out that the government's cooperation with the Shura Council for the study of forwarding support is a positive move.
The announcement came during a parliamentary meeting organized by the community outreach committee at the majlis of MP Mohammed Al Marafi with the attendance of Adel Asoomi, Majid Al Asfoor, Mohsen Al Bakri, Ali Al Muqla and former MP Khalid Al Mawlood.
During the meeting, the MPs confirmed that the support would be redirected towards only the Bahraini citizen.
They added that the application procedure for ration card wouldbe based on mechanisms decided by the Committee, which will execute the programme.
