ID, fingerprint for sim cards
Manama : Starting today, all individuals as well as commercial and government organisations applying for new mobile services will have to provide a valid ID and fingerprint scan as required by The Bahrain Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), said Batelco in a statement yesterday.
Fingerprint scans will be verified by the IGA (Information and eGovernment Authority). The statement also said that TRA has introduced a limit to the number of prepaid lines that can be registered under one ID.
The new rule is valid for registration of sim-card enabled devices (whether postpaid and/or prepaid lines) for all of Bahrain’s mobile operators.
