Bahrain attends nuclear safety meet

ManamaBahrain participated in the 7th review meeting of the contracting parties to the Convention on Nuclear Safety, whose activities kicked off in Vienna on March 27 and are expected to run until April 7.

Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah, also Chairman of the National Committee on the Prohibition of Weapons of Mass Destruction, Dr. Jassim Al Mehza and Ahmed Hussein attended the meeting, representing Health and Interior ministries, respectively.  The meeting was chaired by Mina Golshan of the United Kingdom, Kawandi of India as Vice-Chairmen, Tressa of the United States of America as coordinator and John of Canada as Rapporteur of the Group. The undersecretary reviewed Bahrain’s report, which includes the procedures and measures taken by the Kingdom’s authorities to implement the provisions of the agreement.

The report also includes the laws and resolutions issued in the field of radiation protection, in addition to the development of the Integrated National Security Support Plan and Joint GCC Cooperation and the part of the National Committee on the Prohibition of Weapons of Mass Destruction in this field, pointing out that Bahrain does not have any nuclear facilities.
