Batelco, Ericsson showcase ‘Wi-Fi Calling’

Manama : Batelco in partnership with Ericsson is showcasing ‘Wi-Fi Calling’ solution for multiple devices at the Batelco Stand, which is part of the Bahrain Pavilion at GITEX 2016. 

The service, according to Batelco, enables operators to extend voice service coverage from mobiles to Wi-Fi devices such as tablets and personal computers. 

The move also allows consumers to use devices that have only Wi-Fi access capabilities to make regular voice calls. Wi-Fi calling also supports various options for call set-ups, such as simultaneous calls on several devices and the transfer of ongoing calls between devices. 

GITEX is the biggest annual ICT event in the MENA region-taking place in Dubai from October 16 to 20.

“With the current trend of customers using multiple devices, we are very eager to offer Wi-Fi calling to provide multi-device services to our customers,” said Batelco Bahrain CEO Muna Al Hashemi.

“We believe that the new capability to extend our voice service to devices without a SIM-card is adding further value to our customers while elevating the communications standard in the Kingdom,” she said.
