MPs elect members of the parliamentary committees

ManamaLawmakers yesterday elected the chairpersons and members of the parliamentary committees for the recently launched third session of the four-year legislative term.

Supervised by Parliament Chairman Ahmed Al Mulla, the MPs elected the members of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee, Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, Public Utilities and Environment Committee and the Services Committee.

Members of the committees remained unchanged from the previous legislative term. However, heads and deputy chairpersons of some committees were changed.

On the occasion of the elections, which were held following the council’s weekly meeting, Al Mulla praised the democratic atmosphere, which surrounded the election process.

He reaffirmed the council’s commitment towards serving the interests of the Kingdom and its people through passing the important legislations and laws, which contribute in solving economic and social issues of the country.

The Parliament Chairman praised the committee chairpersons and members for their huge efforts to serve the country during the previous sessions of the ongoing legislative term, and wished them the best in their new responsibilities.

MP Abdulla bin Huwail was elected as the chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee for the third consecutive year. Khalifa Al Ghanim was chosen by the majority of committee members to be the Deputy Chairman of the panel, which includes MPs Jamal Bu Hassan, Mohammed Al Jowder, Theyab Al Nuaimi, Abdulrahman Bumjaid and Nabil Al Balushi as members.

The Public Utilities and Environment Committee will be chaired in the next period by MP Hamad Al Dossary and will have Mohsen Al Bakri as deputy Chairman. The members of the committee include Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Adel Al Assoomy, Abdulhameed Al Najjar, Ghazi Al Rahma and Nasser Al Qasseer.

MP Abbas Al Madhi was also reelected as the chairman of Services Committee, with Roua Al Hayki as Deputy Chairperson. Members included MPs Osama Al Khaja, Dr. Jameela Al Sammak, Ali Al Muqla and Isa Al Kooheji.

Regarding the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, majority of members reelected Abdulrahman Buali as the head, while the second post in the panel went to Mohammed Al Ahmed. Committee members included MPs Jalal Kadhim, Ahmed Qarata, Adel Hameed, Ali Bu Farsan, Dr. Majeed Al Asfoor and Mohammed Al Emadi.

The Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee will be chaired by MP Mohammed Milad, with Khalid Al Shaer as Deputy Chairman. It consisted of MPs Anas Buhindi, Jamal Dawood, Isa Turki, Fatima Al Asfoor and Majid Al Majid as members.
