‘This is Bahrain’

Manama : Bahrain is a country of pluralism and various social customs, which has kept abreast with legal developments and respected all religions, said His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

HM the King was speaking while receiving yesterday at Al Sakhir Palace participants of ‘This is Bahrain,’ organised by Bahrain Federation of Expatriate Associations. The event will be held next month in Italy.

King Hamad was briefed on the activities that will introduce Bahrain’s key achievements and its cultural and humanitarian significance. 

HM the King praised the participants’ efforts in introducing Bahrain’s cultural history and vital achievements, thanks to the policies of openness, coexistence and tolerance adopted throughout  Bahrain’s long history. 

His Majesty said he could compare Bahrain to the ancient Mediterranean port city  Alexandria where people of various religions, sects and philosophies lived together in peace and harmony. 

King Hamad said the Kingdom and its people, in particular, have always welcomed people who reached here in search of knowledge or for employment. 

HM the King also wished that the Professorship Chair established in his name in Italy’s leading university would teach the youth of various countries the values of peaceful coexistence. 

King Hamad added that the respect for religions, cultures and civilisations  has  helped Bahrain fortify itself against racial and religious intolerance and extremism.
