Bahrain Opens First Phase of Major Isa Town Road Project

Manama: Bahrain's Minister of Works, Engineer Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, has formally opened the new flyover at the Northern Isa Town Intersection to traffic, marking the end of the first phase of a major infrastructure project.

The Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects oversees the project, which intends to increase road efficiency, reduce congestion, and strengthen connectivity with vital locations such as Riffa, A'ali, Sanad, Salmabad, and Isa Town.

The newly constructed flyover has three lanes in each direction along Shaikh Salman Highway. Once completed, the enhanced crossroads is planned to handle over 22,000 vehicles per hour, increasing capacity along one of Bahrain's busiest traffic corridors that connects the Capital, Northern, and Southern Governorates.

The major project includes the reconstruction of the Shaikh Salman Highway intersection with Amman and Salmabad roads. Signalised ground-level junctions will also be installed to help with traffic flow.

Stormwater drainage, road resurfacing, pavement improvements, green spaces, landscape design, and improved road safety are among the other projects.

The completion of the first phase allows construction on the subsequent stages to proceed as planned. Authorities have asked vehicles to obey traffic rules and thanked homeowners and motorists for their patience during construction delays.
